Man charged in Secret Service truck theft

Detroit — The U.S. Secret Service said it's busted a bandit who boosted a truck carrying equipment for Vice President Joe Biden's visit to Michigan last month.

Detroit resident Charles Rumbley, 45, was charged Wednesday in federal court with stealing government property, a 10-year felony.

He is jailed pending trial.

The man's court-appointed lawyer, Leroy Soles, could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday.

The U-Haul truck carried $150,000 worth of metal detectors that the Secret Service was going to use to screen people during Biden's visit.
