A man has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his elderly mother in a Detroit-area home.
Alan Shields was arraigned Friday in Southgate District Court.
He was arrested Thursday, a day after Southgate police discovered the body of 86-year-old Irene Shields.
Alan Shields faces a preliminary examination on July 20. He was ordered to be jailed.
