Feds say suspects used medical pot as guise for trafficking
Detroit — Six men are facing federal charges in connection with an alleged marijuana trafficking operation at the Russell Industrial Center.
A criminal complaint charging Reaford Andrew Parker, Thomas Ausmus Jr., Christopher Briel, Troy McCubbin, Robert McIntosh and Samuel McIntosh follows a months-long undercover operation that culminated in raids at the facility on Clay, a Detroit garage and a Dearborn Heights home.
On Monday, Parker, Ausmus and Robert McIntosh appeared in U.S. District Court in Detroit, said Gina Balaya, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office.
The three are expected today before federal Magistrate Judge David Grant for a detention hearing.
DEA investigators seized hundreds of marijuana plants, manufacturing equipment and guns in the drug trafficking investigation, according to the complaint.
