Detroiter charged in shooting of 3-year-old girl


Detroit - A magistrate set a $500,000 cash bond for a 20-year-old accused of shooting a 3-year-old girl in Detroit last week.

Vernon Ray Coles of Detroit was arraigned today on charges including, assault with intent to commit murder, assault with a deadly weapon and felony firearm. In a brief arraignment, Magistrate Laura A. Echartea set Coles' bond and entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf. There was no attorney for Coles at the hearing.
