Feds tap Westland eatery owner's phone, charge associate with lying

It was a bad day Aug. 2 for Tomo Duhanaj — a former Albanian freedom fighter, owner of the popular Bray's Hamburgers in Westland, and, according to the FBI, a violence-threatening loan shark who charged 45 percent interest rates.

Not only were federal agents raiding his home and business, they were eavesdropping on his phone as he called an associate during the raid, said the FBI. Duhanaj allegedly asked Xhafer Laho to help him hide the money he made loan sharking, according to a second federal criminal complaint unsealed Tuesday.
