Gas station clerk beaten in Detroit

Gas station clerk beaten in Detroit

Detroit— The rash of violence at gas stations in the city continued early Monday morning.

Hamzah Nasser, owner of the west-side BP station at Schoolcraft and Greenfield Road, said a group of young men attacked the store's clerk around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

Nasser said the men, who appear to be in their late teens or early 20s, have frequently shoplifted from the store for the past couple years in the early morning hours.

The 26-year-old clerk begged them to stop Monday, Nasser said.
