Jurors say lone holdout blocked Ferguson conviction

Detroit— Jurors in the $12 million bid-rigging case against Bobby Ferguson agreed to convict the contractor on four charges Friday before leaving court and becoming deadlocked, a juror told The Detroit News on Wednesday.

At another point, the jury was deadlocked 10-1 to convict, according to juror Leon Richey, and a second juror who identified the holdout as the lone female black juror.

Jurors indicated prosecutors came close to convicting Ferguson and co-defendants Michael Woodhouse and Calvin Hall, who now face a retrial.
